Welcome to Spiritual Enlightenment
At some point during my adult years, I looked back on my life and realized I was a fraud. My physical world was drastically out of alignment with my spiritual one. It was similar to cooking an elaborate meal while starving, but not being able to consume it. I grew up in a very strict Christian setting dominated by Southern Baptist doctrines. Church every Sunday, choir, usher board, trustee board, Sunday school, morning service, evening service... the environment was filled with bible-toting scripture-quoting tongue-speaking hallelujah shouting folks! Fortunately, I was exposed to many people of integrity and positive influences that instilled in me priceless values. My parents emphasized education until it was drilled into my psyche. On the flip side, I was fed a lot of half-truths, partial truths, and altered truths by so-called well-meaning people. Ignorance, closed-mindedness, pride, & arrogance are likely some of the causative factors. Therefore, I impersonated what a Christian should look and act like based on deficient information. There was no valid connection between the worldly me and my higher self. I impersonated what a Christian should look and act like, but I had no real relationship with my Creator. I prayed to a God I was told to pray to quoting the prayers I was taught to quote. Like a soldier taking orders from his commanding officer: You do as you are told and trained to do whether you are feeling it or not!
Out of Nowhere
I am not sure what event triggered my self-realization, yet it was life-transforming. The process is nowhere near complete rendering an ongoing journey. A crucial part of my being that was sleep woke up and jolted me to the core. Sadly, many people live their whole lives and depart without recognizing that crucial element. My recognition of that element catapulted my mind to a higher wave length. There was a burst of clarity illuminating my understanding of almost everything.
One major area of enlightenment is human sensuality--the mother of physical intimacy. The religious forums that dominate the media treat it like it is nonexistent (unless a scandal hits the news) or something to shun from discussion. In contrast, sensuality should be celebrated and promoted within a God-ordained context. Consequently, inner eyes open, new ideas blossom, paradigms shift, and higher consciousness ensues.
Spiritual enlightenment brings about intelligence and inner peace. It is not about being a Biblical scholar or expert on religious topics because I am neither--far from it! I started this blog not just to disperse information, but to gain knowledge and expand my horizons. It is truly about making a connection with God who leads us to connecting with deeper aspects of ourselves. Those deeper aspects make up the true self...not our careers, bank accounts, personal possessions, or physical bodies.
Our Eclectic Universe
The physical universe is evidence that the Creator loves diversity. A child of the universe, planet Earth, clearly follows suit with its potpourri of life forms. Within the same life form is remarkable variation ( different species of fish, plants, human racial groups, etc). Does it not stand to reason diversity is expressed on every level of existence/consciousness? It does not matter if you are Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, etc. because you are a different expression of the same universe. Different cloths of fabric are required to construct the quilt. I discovered that all religions contribute knowledge and perspectives that are necessary to complete life's masterpiece. It seems as if everyone has a piece to the puzzle of the universe that may never be fully explained on this realm.
The paths we choose to take to self-realization are possible through the gift from God called free will. I have discovered there are far more similarities than differences between the major philosophies that lend more support of each other than contradiction. Besides, I dare to count the numerous contradictions that exist just within the Christian faith. Historical and present events demonstrate other religions are plagued with the same multiple interpretations/variations. At one time, the news was flooded with horror stories of conflicts between the Sunni and Shiite Muslims...there is only one Quran is there not??? No one, no science, no religion has escaped the divisiveness of multiple perspectives. Conflicting interpretations give birth to confusion, disbelief, and disillusionment.
One will be greatly distracted if not focused on their own inner voice. It's the God inside of you and me. Ultimately, that is the key: Hearing your own inner voice because once that occurs everything else falls into place.
Existing as Human
In the beginning, there was nothing: no space, no time, no universe. The question is what is the actual implication of nothing??? I suspect the entire scope of what we call nothing is beyond human intellect. An entire universe created from nothing as we understand the term would be impossible. Beyond the nothing, there had to be something; A force to be reckoned with capable of shifting the scope of reality. Something capable of unimaginable movement or pure energy. Quantum physicists say everything is energy and they mean everything.
"Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another." Albert Einstein
The highest and most powerful energy that ever was and will be is the Creator. It is the most supreme consciousness of everything that is and everything
that will be. An infinite presence that transcends our menial understanding.
Love propels us forward. It carries us to a destination of higher energy. Therefore, transporting us closer to our Creator. Hate pulls us backwards. It carries us to a destination of lower energy or further away from our Creator.
Most often referred to as “he” by many religions raises question of the validity of assigning gender to something so astronomical. Consider the fact that the basic delineation of most species on planet earth is male and female. If all human beings are truly made in its image, the Creator is most likely a fusion of he/she, male/female, God/Goddess.
Our Creator spewed out this powerful
energy that manifested itself into what we call the universe. One may have difficulty imagining the infinite realities or dimensions that subdivide our universe. The nature of creation is the point where atheism splits off from theism. The former supporting a random spontaneous manifestation and the latter supporting a conscious purposeful manifestation/design. Which ever philosophy one believes, there is no denying that the energy of
the universe has taken on a potpourri of arrangements, including us humans.
What is a human being? Here is the break down:
The creme de la creme of the animal kingdom!
Most scientific definitions classify humans as members of the species Homo Sapiens that are distinguished from the remaining animal kingdom. We are characterized by the advanced abilities to stand upright, think intellectually, and articulate language.
The Spirit Affinity recognizes that human beings are a combination of material and nonmaterial elements:
The material part is our physical body. It allows us to
interpret and navigate through the physical world with the use of the 5 basic senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. Anything the 5 senses can perceive operates within space and time, therefore, is temporary and will eventually come to an end.
The nonmaterial aspects are spirit and soul. The nonmaterial aspects of human beings do not operate within space or time, therefore will survive beyond the material existence ( physical body). Many have used the terms interchangeably, but they are not the same thing.
Everything
we are begins with spirit. Everything that happens to us begins in the spirit world. It is the true nature of our existence. We don't have a spirit, we are spirit! It is our energy vibrating at frequencies higher than what our 5 physical senses can detect. The Spirit is the part of us that is connected to the Creator, the part of us that communicates with the Creator, and the part of us that resembles the Creator.
The soul is our character, emotions, intellect, morals, and free will
referred to as the mind. Our brains are the physical shelter for the mind/soul. The emotional aspect of the mind/soul is often referred to
as the heart. The physical eyes have been described as the windows to the soul.
- The spirit and soul of a human are clearly a different caliber of energy
than all other animal species.
- There is scientific research that claims to have captured the appearance and movement of the spirit and/or soul of human beings at the time of death.
It is our 6th sense that allows us to operate on the spirit level and interact with other dimensions. An example of a 6th sense is clairvoyance (ability to see the future). The 6th sense comes from the 6th chakra located between the eyebrows which is regulated by the pineal gland, also known as the third eye. A small eye-like organ in the center of the brain secretes melatonin and regulates the sleep/wake cycle. When we sleep, it is the third eye that is opened. The third eye has generated controversial debate in the religious community over the good versus evil nature of its capabilities.
The practice of viewing human existence as a fusion of material and nonmaterial components is the holistic approach. It promotes the human being as an entity of interconnected parts that impact each other. When the multiple components are harmoniously working together (in sync with the Creator) there is balance and positive energy. When the opposite occurs, there is imbalance and negative energy.
Sensuality allows one to get in touch with themselves and their environment through the use of their senses. The material aspect uses the 5 physical senses to interact with the physical world. The nonmaterial aspect uses the 6th sense to interact with the spirit world. Sensuality promotes holistic harmony by facilitating clarity, direction, and awareness of one's purpose. Traditionally, the term sensuality has often been restricted to describing topics of carnal eroticism. That is the equivalent to limiting the term clothing to just describing socks. It encompasses so much more!
The Spirit Affinity adheres to the belief that the spirit world is the source of all and everything that exists. The world cannot be any better than the individuals that make up that world. It is crucial in today's chaotic and material-focused society to get individuals back in touch with their spiritual selves. When and only when that happens, eyes are opened, minds are illuminated, and divine purposes are fulfilled.
It is a gift to yourself.
